🧩 Workshop Schedule & Sessions

10:00 – 10:10 AM : Welcome & Introduction

The workshop opens with an overview of the bioengineering revolution — why synthetic biology and AI are shaping the future of health, manufacturing, and sustainability.
Hosted by Mrs. Urmimala, this session introduces the speakers and sets the tone for a day of discovery.

Session I (10:10 – 11:15 AM) The Convergence: AI as the Engine for Synthetic Biology

Speaker: Dr. Bhupender

Dive into the foundations of synthetic biology and understand how AI accelerates every step of the Design–Build–Test–Learn (DBTL) cycle. You’ll explore the difference between bioengineering, synthetic biology, and systems biology, and learn about tools like AlphaFold, GeneFormer, CellPioneer, and SynBioCAD.

Session II (11:15 AM – 12:30 PM) - Beyond Nature’s Blueprint: Designing Proteins & Enzymes with AI

Speaker: Ms. Shubhi

This session uncovers how AI enables the creation of novel proteins and enzymes for therapeutics, sustainable chemistry, and advanced materials. You’ll explore tools like ProteinMPNN, RoseTTAFold, EvoDesign, ESM-3, and DiffDock, and review case studies of AI-designed enzymes that degrade plastics or serve as biosensors.

12:30 – 1:00 PM – Lunch Break

Session III (1:00 – 2:00 PM) - Programming Life: AI-Driven Genetic Circuits & Smart Cells

Speaker: External Expert

Learn how AI helps us program living cells just like computers — using circuits, logic gates, and oscillators. Understand how machine learning models predict cell behavior and optimize genetic circuits with tools such as Cello, GeneNet, DeepCircuit, and Benchling AI plug-ins. You’ll see examples like biosensors that detect pathogens and programmable probiotic systems for healthcare.

Session IV (2:00 – 3:00 PM) - Future-Ready Bio-Engineers: Skills, Tools & Global Career Roadmap

Speaker: Dr. Nilofer

Get ready to enter the future of biotech. This session covers the AI + SynBio industry landscape from health and agriculture to environmental and industrial applications.
Understand the essential skills required for this new era:

  • Core bio: molecular biology, biochemistry, systems biology

  • Tech: Python, R, ML basics, data visualization

  • Tools: Benchling, Geneious, SynBioCAD, Protein Design AI tools

Explore career opportunities in research, industry, and entrepreneurship with a focus on global innovation hubs such as Boston, Singapore, Bangalore, Pune, and Hyderabad.

Session V (3:00 – 3:30 PM) - Open Discussion

Wrap up the workshop with an engaging quiz and interactive discussion. Participants will test their understanding through moderate-to-tough questions designed to challenge and inspire.
