DAY -2 Genome, DNA sequences, Gene structure in prokaryotes & eukaryotes, open reading frames, coding and non-coding genes, Proteome, protein sequences, Transcriptome
DAY -3 Extracting, collecting, and storing sequences; various file formats for bio-molecular sequences: GenBank, FASTA, GCG, MSF, NBRF-PIR (DEMO any one)
Unit -2 Knowing the database resources
DAY -4 NCBI, EMBL, Pubmed, Uniprot, PDB, etc. (Demo: Genbank, Pubmed, Uniprot, and PDB)
DAY -5 Protein family and pathway databases: Pfam, KEGG (Demo)
Unit-3 Sequence alignment
DAY -6 Basic concepts of sequence similarity, identity, and homology, homologues, orthologues, paralogues, Dot plot
DAY -7 Sequence Alignment (Local vs Global), Scoring matrices
DAY -8 DEMO: Database searching: using BLAST, Gaps, Evaluation of results using E-value & Bit score
Unit-4 Structure prediction
DAY -9 Protein structural hierarchy, Tertiary structure prediction, and quality assessment, Visualization of structures using molecular viewers viz. Rasmol, Pymol, etc.
DAY -10 Protein secondary structure prediction: (Chou - Fasman method, PHD,PSIPRED, PSSPRED)
